Have a Field Day with These Fun Things to Do This Weekend – DC Metro Area Events, July 26-28

by Keri Shull

With the end of July just around the corner, it’s easy to feel like summer is already over...even though it doesn’t end until September. With back-to-school madness approaching and the impending August heat on the way, this weekend is a perfect opportunity to squeeze the most out of your summer. We rounded up some incredible events in the DC Metro area this weekend to give you some inspiration!

Have a Field Day...at DC Field Day

Remember the excitement of field day when you were a kid? Field Day is all grown up, but just as exciting, at the DC Field Day event. This all day affair includes both childhood favorite games as well as their more adult counterparts (i.e. drinking games). From team games and food to an all-day bar and emcees Tommy McFly and Kelly Collis from The Tommy Show, DC Field Day is a great way to have some wild summer fun!

Then on Tuesday (not quite the weekend, but close enough) Ben Folds and The Violent Femmes will be rocking the Anthem. Find out more and get tickets here.

Enjoy Food, Beer, and Wine in the Garden at Sandy Spring Museum

With locally-brewed beer, food trucks, and live music, you can’t ask for a more perfect summer evening than Sandy Spring Museum’s Summer Beer and Wine Garden Event. You also can’t beat the price - tickets are only $5 in advance, and $10 at the door.

Say Aloha at The Yards DC’s Tiki Yards Event

Nothing says summer like escaping to a tropical oasis. This Saturday, the Yards DC is transforming into a tropical paradise for DC’s largest Tiki block party. The party will include contests like best dressed, limbo, and hula dancing. There will also be plenty of tropical cocktails, flower lei making stations, a live-action surf simulator, a Hula performance, and live music from a steel drum band!

Spend a Night at the Museum with a Smithsonian Sleepover

Get your sleeping bag and your favorite dinosaur pajamas ready for a night at the Natural History Museum! The Smithsonian Sleepovers allow you to spend the night hanging with your favorite dinosaurs and explore the exhibits after hours. These family events are a great way to spend some time with the kids before the back-to-school rush kicks off in August.

Watch a Movie Under the Stars at Columbia Pike Movie Night
