However, there are some awards which are based strictly on statistical success or industry renown…and we recently received one of the highest accolades around!
Each year, the Washingtonian Magazine publishes a comprehensive list of the Top Agents in the Washington DC area. This list is determined by statistical excellence — only those agents and teams who reach certain benchmarks are included on this list. The standards for who gets in shift around each year, based on the status of the housing market. Some people — particularly those who haven’t looked into the fact about COVID-19 and real estate — might assume that this means that the bar is lower for the 2020 awards.
But the fact is, the qualifications for this year’s awards were more strenuous than ever! The team behind the award raised the criteria by 20% over prior requirements. In part, this is because the award is largely based on each team’s 2019 sales numbers, and 2019 was a very hot year for real estate in the DC area.
Here’s a pretty incredible statistic, though: if we look at the numbers for 2020 — a year when a lot of real estate agents are floundering and scaling back — then we would have qualified for this award by May.
