Best Brunch & Cafe Spots in Reston, VA

Best Brunch & Cafe Spots in Reston, VA

Quick Answer: Where to Brunch in Reston This Weekend

Reston does not have one brunch street. It has five or six small brunch districts, each tied to a village center or a Metro stop, and the right one depends on whether you want a reservation and a cocktail, a patio by the water, or a bagel and a quick walk. These are the places we would send a friend this weekend, all checked as operating in October 2026:

The rest of this guide goes area by area, because in Reston the area is the decision. Where you like to spend a Sunday morning says a lot about which part of the community will feel like home.

Four Things to Know Before You Book Brunch in Reston

A few practical patterns hold across almost every place below, and knowing them saves a wasted drive.

  • Most full brunch menus are weekend-only. Sixty Vines and Makers Union run brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Barcelona runs it Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; PassionFish runs it on Sunday only, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If you want eggs and a mimosa on a Tuesday, Ted's Bulletin is the reliable answer.
  • Reserve for the sit-down rooms. Founding Farmers says reservations are highly encouraged but not required, and Sixty Vines' own listing warns that weekend brunch can be busy. The counter-service cafes — Tatte, Paris Baguette, Toastique, la Madeleine, Call Your Mother — are walk-in.
  • Check the day of the week at Lake Anne. Café Montmartre is closed Monday and Tuesday and opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Lake Anne Coffee House closes at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
  • Use the garages in Town Center. Makers Union points weekend guests to free parking options in the Reston Town Center garages, which serve every Market Street brunch.

Reston Town Center: The Densest Brunch Block in Reston

If you want choice within a five-minute walk, Reston Town Center is where it is. Market Street, Democracy Drive and Library Street hold more brunch tables than the rest of Reston combined, and the Reston Town Center Silver Line station is a short walk south.

The sit-down brunches

Ted's Bulletin is the anchor for anyone who wants breakfast without watching the clock. It opens at 7 a.m. every day and serves breakfast through dinner, which makes it the easiest yes for a mixed group where one person wants pancakes and another wants a burger. Its house-made pastry tarts are the menu item it is best known for.

Sixty Vines took over the former Clyde's of Reston space next to the Town Center pavilion and opened in 2023, a change FFXnow reported at the time. Its weekend brunch leans toward shareable plates and wine on tap, with indoor and outdoor seating, and reservations are taken online.

Barcelona Wine Bar brings tapas into brunch: its weekend menu mixes small plates and charcuterie with brunch dishes such as French toast and pancakes, which works well for a table that cannot agree. It takes reservations by phone or online.

Makers Union, at 1811 Library Street, is the more casual pub-style option, with a patio and a weekend brunch from 10 a.m. If your group includes people who would rather have a burger than a frittata, this is a safe pick.

PassionFish is the one to book for a Sunday that feels like an occasion. Its Sunday brunch is a fixed-price three-course format with rotating jazz musicians from around the DMV, and the restaurant lists the week's performer on its events page.

The daytime cafes

For a lighter or later start, Town Center has four counter-service cafes that do breakfast plates well. Tatte Bakery & Cafe, 11910 Market Street by the fountain, opened in late 2023 and has a menu that runs to shakshuka, quiche and tartines. Paris Baguette opened in April 2026 on the ground floor of 2004 Opportunity Way, across from the AC Hotel, with seating inside and on a small patio. Toastique Reston opened on Inspiration Street in RTC Next on 7 March 2026 and does toasts, smoothie bowls and cold-pressed juice. And la Madeleine at 1833 Fountain Drive in The Spectrum opens at 7 a.m. and suits a slow French-cafe breakfast.

On the north side of Town Center, Silver Diner at 11951 Killingsworth Avenue serves breakfast all day from 7 a.m., and it is a straightforward family breakfast on this side of Reston.

Reston Station: Brunch on the Silver Line

Reston Station is the newer, denser district wrapped around the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station, where Wiehle Avenue crosses the Dulles Toll Road. Its brunch scene is smaller than Town Center's, built around one big restaurant at the foot of the Metro.

Founding Farmers Reston Station serves a weekday breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. and a weekend brunch that includes its Farmers Market Buffet Brunch, plus an à la carte menu in the bar area on Saturdays. The restaurant's own page lists a patio with umbrellas and heaters, first come first served, and says it provides highchairs and booster seats. If you are bringing young children to brunch, it helps that the restaurant says so on its own site.

For something quicker, Tous les Jours opened at 1800 Reston Row Plaza in late summer 2025 with French-Asian pastries, breakfast sandwiches and coffee, open from 8 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. on weekends.

Two changes are worth knowing. Matchbox at Reston Station closed around the turn of the year, as TysonsToday reported. And Clyde's Restaurant Group's Ebbitt House, a sister concept to Old Ebbitt Grill at 1860 Reston Row Plaza with a 125-seat patio, was on track for an October 2026 opening when this was written. It was not yet serving, so check before you plan around it.

Lake Anne Plaza: The Patio Brunch

Lake Anne is Reston's first village center, built in the 1960s around a plaza on the water, and it is the opposite of Town Center: fewer choices, more character, and the best outdoor seating in Reston on a clear morning.

Café Montmartre, at 1625 Washington Plaza, describes itself as a French and Việt bistro. The menu splits into French and Vietnamese sides, so one person can order quiche or pain perdu while another has the Hanoi beef noodle soup. It opens at 10 a.m. on weekends, and the patio looks straight onto the lake.

Lake Anne Coffee House & Wine Bar, at 1612 Washington Plaza North, pours coffee from the Vienna roaster Caffè Amouri and runs a seasonal food menu that includes its breakfast salads. From Wednesday to Saturday it stays open until 9 p.m., when the wine list takes over.

Café Anne is the newest arrival, at 11438 Washington Plaza West. The Reston Letter describes waffles, gelato and Moroccan-inspired sandwiches, with patio tables and room to picnic by the lake. It opens Tuesday to Sunday at 11 a.m., and at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays for the market.

That market is the reason to come on a Saturday. The Reston Farmers Market, run by the Fairfax County Park Authority, sets up in the Lake Anne Village Center lot every Saturday from 25 April to 21 November 2026, 8 a.m. to noon. Shop first, then take a late brunch on the plaza.

North Point: Bagels and a Village-Center Breakfast

North Point Village Center, in north Reston near Reston Parkway, is a grocery-anchored center rather than a dining district. Its brunch answer is Call Your Mother, the DC bagel shop that moved into the former Bobby's Bagel Cafe space at 1484 North Point Village Center in March 2025. It is counter service, and the bagels travel well if you would rather eat at Lake Newport or on a trail.

There is also a Starbucks in the same center, and Silver Diner on Killingsworth Avenue is a short drive south. For a full sit-down brunch, Town Center is the nearest cluster.

South Lakes, Hunters Woods and the Sunrise Valley Corridor

South Reston is quieter for brunch, and it is honest to say so. What it has is good, but it is lunch-leaning and mostly counter service.

Cafesano, in the South Lakes Village Center, has been on Lake Thoreau since 2003. You order at the counter and food comes to your table, and the dining room looks out over the water. It opens at 11 a.m., so think of it as a lakeside late-morning lunch rather than breakfast.

Near Hunters Woods, De Clieu Coffee & Sandwich opened in May 2025 in a renovated standalone building at 2235 Soapstone Drive, with Belgian waffles, bagels and sandwiches alongside its coffee. Hunters Woods Village Center itself has a Dunkin' and Kung Fu Tea, and the Reston Community Center on Colts Neck Road.

In the Sunrise Valley office corridor, My Cafe at 2000 Edmund Halley Drive serves a halal Mediterranean breakfast — omelets, pastries, Turkish coffee — but only on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so it is a weekday breakfast spot, not a weekend brunch.

Plaza America: In Transition

Plaza America, on Sunset Hills Road near the Toll Road, is not a brunch destination right now. Whole Foods left the center for The Spectrum at Reston Town Center in August 2025, as The Burn covered; MOD Pizza there closed on 30 September 2026; and FFXnow reported in August 2026 that Lidl was in line for the old grocery space. For now, Tropical Smoothie Cafe at 11684 Plaza America Drive is the quick breakfast option, and Reston Station is a short drive east for a sit-down meal.

Just over the town line in Herndon, Le Vingt Trois Cafe & Bakery at 311 Sunset Park Drive is a small French cafe and bakery, open from 8 a.m. Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Brunch Spots That Have Closed, So Your List Is Current

Older Reston brunch lists, including some that still rank well in search, name places that are gone. Before you plan a morning around one of these, here is the current state:

Former spot

What happened

Go here instead

Clyde's of Reston, Town Center

Closed May 2022 after 31 years

Sixty Vines now occupies the space

Mon Ami Gabi, Democracy Drive

Closed at the end of 2023 when its lease ended

Café Montmartre for a French brunch

True Food Kitchen, Town Center

Closed in early October 2026 as part of the chain's Chapter 11 filing

Toastique for a health-leaning breakfast

Matchbox, Reston Station

Closed around the turn of the year

Founding Farmers, next door to the Metro

Whole Foods, Plaza America

The larger Whole Foods at The Spectrum

Restaurant turnover is normal in a growing district, and Reston Town Center and Reston Station are still adding space. The practical rule is to check a place's own site the morning you go.

Brunch With Kids and Brunch Outside

Two questions come up more than any others from families new to Reston: where can we take small children, and where can we sit outside?

For children, the safest picks are the ones that say they are set up for it or are built for quick turns. Founding Farmers lists highchairs and booster seats. Silver Diner's own page bills itself as family dining with breakfast all day. Ted's Bulletin opens at 7 a.m., which suits early risers. And Lake Anne Plaza is open space by the water, so a coffee-and-pastry morning there gives children room to move.

For patios, the list is short and seasonal. Founding Farmers has umbrellas and heaters; Café Montmartre and Café Anne face Lake Anne; Sixty Vines and Makers Union both list outdoor seating in Town Center; and Paris Baguette has a small patio on Opportunity Way. From late October, the heated patio at Founding Farmers is the one most likely to stay usable.

What Your Brunch Habit Says About Where to Live in Reston

Reston is a planned community laid out around village centers, so the walk to brunch differs a lot by address. If a short walk to Sunday breakfast matters to you, it is worth treating as a real search filter.

Reston Market Snapshot: The Last 12 Months

If a brunch tour of Reston turns into a home search, it helps to know how quickly this market moves. The figures below are from Bright MLS for closed residential sales in ZIP codes 20190, 20191 and 20194, from 9 September 2025 to 9 September 2026.

Measure

Mean days on market

22.0

Median close-to-list ratio

Mean close-to-list ratio

The median Reston home went under contract in about eight days and sold at its asking price. The gap between the eight-day median and the 22-day mean tells you that a minority of homes sit far longer, usually because of price or condition. A well-priced home near a village center can be gone before your next weekend visit.

Turning a Brunch Weekend Into a Home Search

Plenty of Reston home searches start with a Saturday at Lake Anne or a Sunday in Town Center. If that is how yours starts, a few things make the move from browsing to buying go smoothly in a market this fast:

  • Get fully underwritten before the weekend you plan to tour. With an eight-day median, a pre-qualification letter alone often loses to a buyer whose loan is already reviewed.
  • Pick two districts, not five. Reston's village centers are genuinely different. Choose the two whose mornings you like best and tour only there.
  • Walk the route you will actually use. If the point of the house is a ten-minute walk to brunch, walk it before you write an offer, the way you would drive a commute.
  • Check the school assignment yourself. Reston is served by schools including Terraset Elementary, Sunrise Valley Elementary, Armstrong Elementary, Langston Hughes Middle School and South Lakes High School, but boundaries change. Confirm the specific address with the FCPS Boundary Locator.

How the KS Team Works in Reston

A median of eight days on market rewards preparation over speed. Our job is to make sure you have already narrowed the search to the right part of Reston, have your financing reviewed, and know what a fair price looks like for that street before a home you want appears.

The local detail matters as much as the numbers. Knowing that a Lake Anne plaza condo, a Reston Station high-rise and a North Point townhouse are three very different weekends, and which one fits how you actually live, is the part a listing portal cannot do for you. If you are selling elsewhere to fund a move here, start with a current home valuation.

Financing Paths Worth Asking About

Before you settle on a price range, work out the monthly number you are comfortable with. Our mortgage calculator lets you test payment scenarios, and our financing options page covers loan programs worth raising with a lender, including Virginia Housing assistance for buyers who qualify. Availability depends on your income, the price of the home and the lender's rules at the time you apply, so treat any program as something to confirm, not assume.

A Two-Day Reston Brunch Test Drive

If you are deciding between parts of Reston, eat your way through it. This weekend plan covers four districts and shows you how each one feels at the hours you would actually be home.

  1. Saturday, 8:30 a.m.: walk the Reston Farmers Market at Lake Anne Village Center.
  2. Saturday, 10:30 a.m.: brunch on the Café Montmartre patio, then walk the plaza and the pathways toward Tall Oaks.
  3. Saturday afternoon: drive to Lake Fairfax Park or the Walker Nature Center trails run by Reston Association; our guide to Reston's trails has more ideas.
  4. Sunday, 9:00 a.m.: brunch at Founding Farmers, then walk the Reston Station blocks around the Metro.
  5. Sunday, 11:00 a.m.: take the Silver Line one stop to the Reston Town Center station and walk up to Market Street.
  6. Sunday, 1:00 p.m.: coffee at Tatte or Paris Baguette, then drive through North Point on the way out.
  7. Sunday evening: write down which morning you would want to repeat every week. That is your search area.
