Choosing a gym after a move tends to go one of two ways. Either you join the first club with a familiar name and find out three months later that the pool closes before you get home, or you spend weeks on free passes because nothing quite matches the gym you left. The second way is slower but usually ends better. This guide is meant to make it quicker.
It covers full-service and big-box gyms in and around Vienna, Virginia, sorted by tier: luxury athletic clubs, boutique-style membership gyms, family clubs with pools and childcare, a hometown independent, budget and 24-hour gyms, and the public Fairfax County rec centers most newcomers overlook. Yoga and Pilates studios, personal training and CrossFit are separate questions with their own guides. Every gym named here was checked in October 2026, and the Vienna gym map has changed more in the last two years than most lists reflect.
The short answer, by tier
- Luxury: Equinox Tysons Corner at 8065 Leesburg Pike, which has a Vienna address. Further out, Life Time Fairfax at Fair City Mall and Life Time Reston.
- Boutique-style membership gym: Club Studio Tysons Corner at 1500 Cornerside Boulevard, five studio rooms inside one full gym.
- Full-service with a pool: Onelife Fitness Tysons on Greensboro Drive, with its McLean Signature Club on Old Meadow Road a few minutes away.
- Hometown independent: Evolution Health & Fitness at 216 Dominion Road NE, on the W&OD Trail downtown.
- Budget and 24-hour: PUMP24 Vienna on Maple Avenue West, PureGym Tysons Corner on Leesburg Pike, and Planet Fitness Fairfax on Lee Highway.
- Public, with the biggest pool: Oakmont Rec Center on Jermantown Road in Oakton, formerly Oak Marr, and Spring Hill Rec Center in McLean.
What changed on the Vienna gym map
If you are working from a list more than a year or two old, several entries will send you to the wrong place.
- Gold's Gym Tysons Corner, 8150 Leesburg Pike, has closed. Current business listings mark it closed. It still appears in older "best gyms near Vienna" roundups.
- Anytime Fitness on Church Street NW has closed. The small 24-hour gym at 111 Church Street NW is listed as closed, and the brand's own location page for it no longer exists.
- Club Studio replaced the old 24 Hour Fitness at Tysons West. FFXnow reported an $11 million retrofit of the 1500 Cornerside Boulevard building, which opened in July 2024.
- PUMP24 opened on Maple Avenue in the Vienna Shopping Center storefront that used to be Tuesday Morning. FFXnow covered the build-out in August 2025, and Patch covered the grand opening with Town officials.
- Oak Marr RECenter is now Oakmont Rec Center. The Fairfax County Park Authority renamed the park and rec center in November 2023. Same building, same pool, new name on the sign.
- Onelife Fitness is moving its Tysons club to Tysons Galleria. On 1 October 2026, Onelife confirmed a 110,000-square-foot flagship in the former Saks Fifth Avenue store, expected to open in late 2027. The Greensboro Drive club stays open until then.
The practical point for anyone house-hunting: the Tysons side of Vienna is gaining gym capacity, and downtown Vienna has slightly less than it did. If a walkable, inexpensive 24-hour gym in the historic centre was on your wish list, PUMP24 on Maple Avenue West is now the main candidate.
Luxury tier: Equinox and the Life Time clubs
Equinox Tysons Corner
Equinox Tysons Corner sits at 8065 Leesburg Pike with a Vienna 22182 address, beside one of the region's biggest shopping destinations. The club describes itself as having a full-service spa, a saltwater pool and a Pilates studio. Its amenity list adds a yoga studio, a cycling studio, a steam room, laundry service, coat check, a Hyperice recovery station and an Aescape robotic massage. It opens at 5 a.m. Monday to Thursday and closes at 10 p.m., with shorter hours on Fridays and weekends.
Equinox is the choice for people who want the gym to feel like a hotel and who will use the spa and recovery side as much as the weight floor. It is aimed at adults rather than families. If you need childcare, ask the club directly, because it is not among the amenities listed online. For a household where both adults work in Tysons and the gym is part of the commute, it is the most polished option on the Vienna side.
Life Time Fairfax and Life Time Reston
Life Time calls its clubs athletic country clubs, which is a fair description of what you are paying for. Life Time Fairfax at Fair City Mall has 67,000 square feet with indoor lap and leisure pools, more than 100 classes a week and dedicated kids' spaces. It opens at 4 a.m. on weekdays and stays open until midnight. Life Time Reston is larger still, at 114,000 square feet with a resort-style pool deck, an onsite spa and the same 4 a.m. to midnight weekday hours.
Neither club is in Vienna. Fairfax is the easier drive for households on the southern side of town, toward Nutley Street. Reston suits anyone already commuting out along the Dulles Toll Road. For families who want a pool, childcare and classes under one roof, and who are happy to drive for it, Life Time is the luxury option that works for the whole household.
A boutique-style gym with five studios: Club Studio Tysons Corner
Club Studio Tysons Corner, at 1500 Cornerside Boulevard, Suite A, in Tysons West, is the clearest example near Vienna of a new kind of gym. It is a full club with five boutique-style studio rooms built in. According to its opening announcement, those rooms are strength (a treadmill, rower and functional-strength class), boxing, indoor cycling, heated yoga and reformer Pilates. Around them sit free weights, cardio and functional areas, a turf training room, cryotherapy and recovery services, towel service and a medical spa. FFXnow's opening report adds a pool, sauna and whirlpool.
The appeal is consolidation. Many people moving here from a city were paying for a gym and two separate studio memberships. Club Studio tries to replace all three with one bill and one parking lot. It is also the brand's answer to the luxury tier at a different price point, so it is worth touring against Equinox before you decide. Note that the club sets a minimum membership age of 16, or 13 with a guardian, which matters for families with teenagers.
Full-service with a pool: Onelife Fitness Tysons and McLean
Onelife Fitness Tysons, at 8250 Greensboro Drive near The Boro, is the big-box family club on the Tysons side. Its club page describes a swimming pool, a running track and a basketball court, and lists a steam room, hot tub, racquetball, group fitness and a mind-and-body studio. It opens at 5 a.m. on weekdays and closes at 10 p.m.
It is also one of the few clubs here that publishes its prices. The Tysons page lists a Basic plan at $49.99 a month plus a $79 joining fee, and a Premier plan at $62.99 a month that adds towel service and HydroMassage, both on ACH autopay. Onelife says its clubs run Kids Clubs, although amenities vary by location, so confirm the Tysons Kids Club hours at the desk if childcare is the deciding factor.
Two things matter if you are planning a few years ahead. First, the club is moving. Onelife has confirmed it will relocate Tysons operations to its new Tysons Galleria flagship once that is built, with a six-lane indoor saltwater pool, a kids' club, indoor pickleball and a recovery floor, expected in late 2027. Second, the Onelife McLean Signature Club at 1800 Old Meadow Road is a short drive from the Tysons side of Vienna. It lists indoor tennis, squash, an outdoor pool and reformer Pilates, and Signature membership covers the brand's wider network of clubs.
The hometown club: Evolution Health & Fitness
Vienna's independent club downtown is Evolution Health & Fitness at 216 Dominion Road NE, which calls itself Vienna's Home Town Health Club. It is in the historic downtown, just off Church Street and a block from Maple Avenue. If you use the W&OD Trail, it is the building across from the red caboose and the old train station.
Evolution is deliberately not a big-box gym. Its services page describes a full line of cardio, strength and free-weight equipment in an environment it calls friendly and not overcrowded. Every membership starts with a fitness assessment and a customised orientation session with a personal trainer. Beyond the floor, it runs group exercise, youth training, post-rehabilitation programmes and a triathlon club. According to its about page, it also offers cholesterol, glucose and resting-metabolic-rate screenings on site.
There is no pool and no listed childcare. What you get instead is a smaller club built around personal attention, within walking or cycling distance of much of Central Vienna. It also shares the building with a reformer studio and partners with a downtown yoga studio, so it works as the hub of an in-town routine rather than as the whole routine.
Budget and 24-hour gyms
PUMP24 Vienna, Maple Avenue West
PUMP24 Vienna is at 136A Maple Avenue West in the Vienna Shopping Center and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With the Church Street Anytime Fitness gone, it is the main round-the-clock gym in the town centre. The space is about 6,000 square feet with strength and cardio equipment, HYROX rigs and a functional-training area. It is a sister gym to Olympus Gym in Burke, which has operated in the area since 1971. The Town's economic development office has profiled the gym too.
Personal trainers work there as independent contractors, and the club sells day passes, which is a useful way to test it during a house-hunting trip. It is a training gym rather than an amenities club: no pool, no childcare, no spa. If what you want is serious equipment five minutes from home at any hour, that is the right trade.
PureGym Tysons Corner, Leesburg Pike
PureGym Tysons Corner, formerly Pure Fitness, is at 8311 Leesburg Pike and is also open around the clock, with staffed hours from early morning into the evening on weekdays. Its page lists a Core plan from $29.99 a month and a Plus plan from $37.99 a month, each with a $39 joining fee. Plus adds access to other eligible PureGym locations, instructor-led classes including HYROX, guest passes and hydromassage beds. Memberships are month to month.
Planet Fitness Fairfax, Lee Highway
The lowest advertised price in reach is Planet Fitness Fairfax at 11001 Lee Highway, which advertises memberships starting at $15 a month. It is a drive from most of Vienna, not a neighbourhood gym. It suits people who mainly want cardio and machines on a tight monthly budget and who pass that way anyway.
The public option most newcomers miss
Fairfax County runs nine Park Authority rec centers, and two of the best-equipped are within easy reach of Vienna. They are open to the public, they sell memberships and passes as well as daily admission, and they are the strongest pool-and-childcare answer in the area for the money.
Oakmont Rec Center, formerly Oak Marr, is at 3200 Jermantown Road in Oakton, just west of Vienna. Its facilities page describes an Olympic-sized heated indoor pool with a zero-depth beach entry, one- and three-metre springboards, three- and five-metre diving platforms, dry saunas and an outdoor sundeck. There is also a fitness room with cardio, strength machines and free weights, racquetball courts, and drop-in childcare for children from three months to ten years old. The 58-acre grounds include a golf centre, an 18-hole mini golf course and soccer fields. For a family, no private club in the area matches that combination of pool, childcare and price.
Spring Hill Rec Center at 1239 Spring Hill Road in McLean serves the northern side of Vienna. It has a 25-metre pool with zero-depth entry, saunas, a fitness centre, an indoor track, racquetball and multi-purpose rooms. Opening hours for both centres, including pool schedules, are posted on the county's rec center schedules page.
Closer to home, the Town of Vienna's own Community Center on Cherry Street SE runs seasonal fitness programmes and sits right on the W&OD Trail. That trail is the best free gym in town for runners and cyclists.
Pools, childcare and hours, side by side
These are the three questions that actually decide most family gym choices. The table only shows what each club publishes. "Not listed" means the club does not advertise it online, so ask before you assume either way.
Gym | Tier | Pool | Childcare | 24/7 access |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Equinox Tysons Corner | Luxury | Saltwater pool | Not listed | No (5 a.m.–10 p.m. Mon–Thu) |
Life Time Fairfax | Luxury athletic club | Indoor lap and leisure pools | Dedicated kids' spaces | No (4 a.m.–midnight weekdays) |
Club Studio Tysons Corner | Boutique-style gym | Pool, sauna, whirlpool | Not listed | No |
Onelife Fitness Tysons | Full-service | Swimming pool | Brand runs Kids Clubs; confirm locally | No (5 a.m.–10 p.m. weekdays) |
Evolution Health & Fitness | Hometown independent | Not listed | Not listed | No |
PUMP24 Vienna | Budget / training gym | Not listed | Not listed | Yes |
PureGym Tysons Corner | Budget | Not listed | Not listed | Yes |
Oakmont Rec Center | Public | Olympic-sized indoor pool with diving | Drop-in, 3 months to 10 years | No |
Spring Hill Rec Center | Public | 25-metre indoor pool | Check with the center | No |
One pattern stands out. If you need a pool and childcare without a luxury bill, the county rec centers are the answer. If you need any-hour access, PUMP24 and PureGym are the answer. Only the luxury clubs come close to covering both, with very long hours rather than true 24/7 access, and they are priced as luxury clubs.
Where the single-format studios fit
Vienna also has a strong cluster of single-format studios along Maple Avenue West, including Orangetheory Vienna at 127 Maple Avenue West, F45 Training Vienna nearby, and Pure Barre Vienna in the Vienna Shopping Center. They are a different purchase from a gym. You pay for a coached class, not for floor access, and many households end up with one gym and one studio. We cover those studios, and Vienna's yoga and Pilates rooms, in separate guides. This one stays with the clubs.
Matching the gym to the part of Vienna you buy in
Vienna is compact, and every gym above is a short drive from most of town. What changes from block to block is which gym is on your way. That is the one you will actually use on a Wednesday evening.
- Central Vienna, the Church Street blocks and Windover Heights are the walk-or-cycle zone for Evolution Health & Fitness and PUMP24, with the W&OD running through the middle. It is the best part of town for a gym routine without a car.
- The Tysons side of 22182, along Route 7 and toward Westbriar, puts Equinox, Club Studio, PureGym and Onelife Tysons within a few minutes, and the Silver Line at Greensboro and Spring Hill. It suits a household commuting into Tysons, where employers such as Capital One and Freddie Mac are based.
- The Oakton edge and south-western Vienna are closest to Oakmont Rec Center on Jermantown Road, which makes them the natural base for families who want the county pool and childcare.
- The Wolf Trap side and the northern edge lean toward Spring Hill Rec Center and the Onelife McLean Signature Club.
- The southern side toward Nutley Street and the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Orange Line station is the shortest run to Life Time Fairfax at Fair City Mall and Planet Fitness on Lee Highway.
- Dunn Loring Woods and the eastern edge face toward Gallows Road and the Dunn Loring-Merrifield station, with Onelife Tysons and Club Studio the nearest full clubs.
Gyms are rarely the only thing on the shortlist. School assignment usually matters more, and it does not follow the gym map or the ZIP code. Vienna-area addresses feed schools including Louise Archer Elementary, Vienna Elementary, Westbriar Elementary, Wolftrap Elementary and Cunningham Park Elementary, Thoreau Middle and Kilmer Middle, and James Madison High, Oakton High or Marshall High. Boundaries change, so check any specific address with the FCPS Boundary Locator before you make an offer. The commute is the other pull. Fairfax County's plan for Tysons as its urban centre helps explain why so much of the new gym investment has landed on that side of town.
If you are weighing Vienna against McLean, our guide to the best gyms in McLean covers the other side of Tysons. Current listings across Vienna are on our Vienna homes for sale page, and the Vienna neighbourhood guide covers parks, the Town Green and commuting routes.
Vienna market snapshot
The figures below are Bright MLS closed residential sales across Vienna's three ZIP codes, 22180, 22181 and 22182, for the twelve months ending 9 September 2026.
Metric | Vienna, VA (22180 / 22181 / 22182) |
|---|---|
Closed sales in the period | 757 |
Median days on market | 7 |
Average days on market | 23.9 |
Median sale-to-list price | 100.0% |
Average sale-to-list price | 101.0% |
The gap between a seven-day median and a twenty-four-day average is the useful part. Most homes that are priced and presented well go under contract inside a week, and a minority sit and negotiate. Buyers who arrive with their must-haves already ranked can move in that first week, and that ranking should include practical things like the pool or the 6 a.m. class.

Thinking about a move to Vienna?
The gym question is a small version of the bigger one: what does a normal week look like from this address? It is worth answering that before you tour rather than after you close. The Keri Shull Team works with buyers relocating into Vienna, McLean, Reston and across Northern Virginia, many with a narrow window to understand how different parts of a town actually live.
