Hiwa Sheikh, a Buyer Success Agent with The Keri Shull Team, just closed on the purchase of his first home, where he plans to live for a few years and then utilize as an investment property.
Here’s Hiwa’s take on the journey to his successful purchase:
I never would have thought a year ago today I would have paid off my student loans and purchased my first property in the same year. Positive affirmation really helped, and our team’s ethos drove the motivation that has been instilled in me to keep moving forward. I really believe the leadership we have as a team is amazing and it made things fall into place when our drive is to set those goals and work hard to not just achieving the goal but to surpass it.
Hiwa’s journey to buying his first home extends far beyond his career as a real estate agent. He migrated to the United States in the 1990s to find refuge from war-torn Northern Iraq. He settled in Arlington, VA in 1997 and has been a proud local ever since, working in government contracting and procurement before making the transition to real estate.
According to Hiwa, his decision to move into the real estate sector stems from his interest in helping others and making a positive impact on his community. A percentage of Hiwa’s proceeds from his real estate transactions are donated to the post-ISIS Internally Displaced Peoples of the Middle East.
